My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have recently finished their main floor renovation. The changes to their home have been massive, but one of the most beautiful new spaces is the fireplace in the living room design. The original fireplace was already lovely, but they wanted to give it an upgrade and make it a bit more contemporary. They did this with built-in cabinetry on either side, a beautiful new wood mantel, and new stonework that reaches the ceiling. And of course, some finishing touches by Reclaiming Home.
When the renovation was all done I sourced some new chairs and rugs and a few accessories. Then when I was visiting them in person I styled their shelves by shopping their house and finding items that I knew would look perfect framing this gorgeous new fireplace. These finishing touches made a huge impact on the way space looks and feels.
Their main floor feels enormous now, and so bright! All the natural light floods the house all day long. The kitchen, dining room, and living room flow together because of the finishings and intentional design that makes each space similar to the others. This process was years in the dreaming, planning and making, and it is so satisfying to see how beautiful the final result is.
Have you recently built a new house, or just completed a big renovation? Does your space still somehow not feel quite right? Just because something is brand new doesn’t mean it will automatically feel like home! Reclaiming Home Decorating can help you with the finishing touches so that all your hard work comes together beautifully.
